Bruni 2.0 – the second coffee shop in the city. This time, the design scale is larger – 62 m2, with the addition of a kitchen serving breakfasts and wine alongside croissants and coffee. It is important to note that the goal was to create a space with a budget not exceeding 1 million rubles. Do you think we succeeded?

CONCEPT

It was necessary to maintain the recognizability of the concept of the first Bruni establishment while creating a new space with its own style and idea. The concept revolved around the interplay of warmth and cold. Architectural volumes in the second Bruni played a role of inversion. The cold elements included concrete floor slabs, rough plastered walls, and metal. The warm elements featured tactile cork panels, wood, and warm lighting. The warm part seemed to be cut out from the gray brutality of the surroundings.

Thanks to another architectural technique – a 3-meter mirror that doubles the warm part of the bar area in its reflection, the space feels larger. Another unexpected effect was the appearance of sunset rays in the room after the mirror was installed, which were not present before.

The charm and uniqueness of this project were the panels made of natural cork. Cork is an environmentally friendly, pleasant-to-touch material that adds +100 to coziness. Thanks to the different types of surfaces of the cork panels, we were able to maintain their durability and use them on the horizontal surfaces of the bar counter and table.

It was important to pay attention to details. For example, circular shapes were repeated in different elements: round sinks, tables, wall sconces, and even the trash hole. The wall opposite the mirror reflects the cafe’s name in the form of cut-out letters.
