Bruni is a small coffee shop located in western Crimea in the resort town of Yevpatoria. A small and cozy city with many old streets and buildings. Bruni coffee shop can be found among  them.

Only 13 m2 in what was the lobby of the building (yes! Many years ago, there was lobby). This explains the geometry of the ceiling, which shows the shape of the staircase.

Despite the compact dimensions, it was possible to fit in a comfortable barista workstation with a large storage room, two suspended seats with tables, on which it is convenient to sit in pairs. Besides, the design for a self-serviced ustensils area, such as lids, straws, napkins, was very well thought through. The litter is hidden in the wall for further space optimization.

CONCEPT

Initially, the specification was a light gray coffee shop with accent chairs. But as usual, I wanted to do something unusual bearing in mind the context of a resort town. So I had the idea to combine tradition with modernity. Tradition is a reference to the tactility of the city, old buildings, sand and clay colors, uneven plaster and the smoothness of sandy beaches. In contrast to this, materials created in production – metal, flexible mirror, concrete – cold and strict forms.
A flexible mirror in this context enlarges a small space and creates the effect of a portal to the shifting sands, with a wave-like reflection.

The main figure behind this concept is the character of Bruni – a boy with long arms, trying to diligently embrace all things in the world – but the most important thing is to create the best cakes and pastries in the world.
In the interior, Bruni appears in the form of graphics on the walls and merch on glasses and T-shirts.
