CONCEPT

We were faced with the challenging task of creating a comfortable space for a young family of three. The challenge lay in the fact that the original contour of the walls and the architecture of the building presented a broken angular form, far from the usual and comfortable rectangular space.

We have: 1. The main entrance is sandwiched between openings – nowhere to hang clothes or store shoes, resulting in a constantly “dirty” hallway. 2. Sharp angles – unused space, uncomfortable to be in such rooms. 3. Non-parallel wall contours.

The initial data was not very favorable, agree? But we found a solution! By the entrance, we managed to create two separate rooms, forming a mini walk-in closet that solves the problems described above – there is a place at the entrance to hang outerwear, store shoes, and keys. The separate walk-in closet allowed us to declutter the hallway. We placed a bench in it for convenience when putting on shoes, storing bags, etc., and a large full-length mirror that also serves as a partition, closing off and separating the main room from the auxiliary spaces.

We eliminated the sharp angles and uneven lines by using rounded forms, next to which we comfortably placed a cozy area with an armchair and a floor lamp. We also applied this technique to the furniture wall (wardrobe + kitchen), which further softens the transition from the main room to the bedroom.

The clients wanted an open space without unnecessary doors and partitions. To maintain the zoning of the rooms, we separated the sleeping area from the common area with a light fabric curtain. If desired, it can be easily opened and hidden in a wardrobe that transitions from the main room to the bedroom, creating a sense of unified space.
